Gentle Scholars Academy was founded by Mrs. Adonna Hughes, a woman whose heart was deeply burdened by the injustices faced by young children. After witnessing heart-breaking stories of abuse in homes and day-cares, she could not simply stand by and do nothing. She was disturbed, and moved to action.
Children deserve more than just a place to be supervised—they deserve a sanctuary of love, safety, and learning. Instead of accepting the reality that so many children were left vulnerable, she turned to God for guidance and took a bold step of faith. She established Gentle Scholars Academy—not just as a school, but as a safe haven where parents could trust that their children would be cared for like family.
A Personal Struggle That Became a Mission
Beyond providing safety and love, Mrs. Hughes carried another deeply personal mission—one inspired by her own daughter’s struggles with reading. As a mother, she watched her child battle with reading and comprehension, facing frustration and self-doubt. She knew that if her daughter could overcome those challenges with the right support, then so could other children.
Through prayer, research, and unwavering dedication, she developed a proven reading program that has transformed the way children learn. Today, this program is a core pillar of Gentle Scholars Academy, ensuring that every child becomes a fluent, confident reader who truly understands what they read.

Following the Ministry of Education curriculum from 1st Year to Standard 5, we provide individualized instruction, strong academic foundations, and SEA preparation, ensuring students excel in their educational journey.
